I too question Marya’s portrayal as lacking beauty. (Perhaps her beauty will blossom with her inner beauty.) I guess in comparison to Helene she is plain and I really thought Marya and Pierre would make a good match. But with Pierre and Helene’s match they appear have it all - all of what seems to be important to some, the riches of Pierre and the beauty of Helene.
Ooh! I never even considered Marya and Pierre! They would be perfect for one another. I’m not so sure Helene is going to be all that, but I guess we shall see…
